How to focus your Camera

How accurately you focus an image can make or break the image, sometimes the moment is over as soon as it has begun thus preventing a second, more precise, shot. Today’s auto focus cameras are quite quick and accurate but the photographer must know how to use the cameras focusing system correctly.

Most cameras use the central AF point of focus viewfinder. The rest of the image is ignored. Modern cameras usually have advanced multi-zone. Even with these additional subject areas, unless you change the focus area of the central area of the display remains the default domain of the cameras. simple systems is always read from the center of the viewfinder (in red in Figure 1). Figure 1 also shows the areas that can be read by an automatic focusing system in several areas. Items marked in blue are multi-zone focusing on other grounds. The camera may be different in the distribution and number of areas.

There are a variety of methods, depending on the subject, focusing is described. With portrait photography and animals, whether human or animal, the most important part of the image is very eye catching.
Figure 1 Blue shows areas of focus points for viewing. .
If the subject”s eyes are not sharp, it is a serious side image. Most portrait images will be routed directly into the eyes of the spectator problem, this is a natural event. Therefore, a sharper and clearer eyes, more subjects effects on the image.

Here are two photos that are nearly identical (Fig 2 and Fig 3).

It is strong in the eyes and the other just outside the house. What do you prefer? Yes, the one with the eye of the second kind with cameras in an area of portrait images, you aim the center of the viewfinder at your subject;s eyes when you activate the system development. Usually this is done by half pressing the shutter button. If there is a need to compose the picture with the eyes in another part of the framework, the focus is locked by pressing the shutter release halfway position of the button and reconstruction, while before pressing trigger. fig 3 Out of Focus

For multi-zone focusing cameras you can select the focus point area nearest the area to be focussed upon. For portrait photos for example, you would normally turn the camera vertically, placing the subject’s eyes about a third of the way down the frame. Select the focus zone closest to the eyes, and focus, use the focus lock described earlier then recompose and fire.

Multi-zone focusing is very useful if your subject is not dead center. Simply because you can get the composition correct first, and then select the focusing zone you require for your off-center subject without having to move the camera again.

Restoring Sky Detail

Have you ever taken pictures of landscape with what you thought was a beautiful sky full of detail, only to find the clouds are completely washed to be displayed on a large screen or on paper? A problem with the digital camera is its poor exposure latitude. It is the ability to get a decent retail exposure through a high contrast situation, particularly in the areas of intervention of an image.

Now the background layer and can be linked together. Photoshop Elements command

One way to cope with sky high contrast when taking a photo is to use graduated filters These filters can work very successfully bring the two areas of the scene in an exposure ratio acceptable.
With a graduated filter, is half black and the other will gradually loan. The dark side of the filter will cover the most brilliant territory or airspace.

graduated filters are available in several colors, even on gray, a neutral color that does not change the original color from high contrast image. But their use can be hit or miss, and the final result will depend on the density of the filter used.
Using digital editing, the contrast of a wide margin in a final image can be mounted successfully once planning is complete bit. This is done simply by taking two images of the same scene. Could be exposed highlight areas of the image and the other would be exposed to shaded areas. The technique is simple but must be considered at the time of the shooting. What follows is a step-by-step example how digital editing can be very easy to get a lot more detail in a situation of high contrast.

graduated filters are available in several colors, even on gray, a neutral color that does not change the original color image of high contrast. But their use can be hit or miss, and the final result will depend on the density of the filter used.
Using digital editing, in contrast with a wide margin a final image can be installed successfully when planning is somewhat complete. This is done simply by taking two images of the same scene. May be exposed highlight areas of the image and the others would be exposed to shaded areas. The technique is simple, but must be assessed at the time of the shooting. The following is an example step by step how digital editing can be very easy to get a lot more detail in a situation with high contrast.

Also note the huge difference in exposure between the two images. Image 1 was taken with a shutter speed of 1 / 200 second, while Figure 2 was taken with a shutter speed of 1 / 800 sec. Exposure values remained the same from others, then it is a difference of two stops, which is quite dramatic for a digital camera.
For purposes of this exercise is very important that no changes are made to take the other two images in the exhibition. Both must be taken in the same position at the same time using the same focal length and focal length. Therefore, it is preferable to mount the camera on a tripod and use manual focus.

We now use an image editing program to correct the details of the sky. Here's an example of Adobe Photoshop Elements 3.0 was used, but most of the programs of digital editing tools are needed for this procedure.
The first step is to isolate an area of the image, which must be maintained. Photoshop Elements, this is done using the Lasso tool. This area of the sky is carefully isolated using the Lasso tool, dragging along the “border” between the foreground and the sky.
Note in Figure 3 is also far behind the insulation. The remaining area is too exposed, and does not seem new image.
Some of the fringes can help mitigate this line a bit to cover some gaps. If this photo is a feather 2 pixels is used. How much is used depends on the size of the fringe.

When the area is selected in Photoshop Elements, you can drag or copy an image to others. In the case of this example is in the foreground are normally exposed picture drawn across the image underexposed.

Use other programs that the transaction may be done differently. The selected area can be converted into a layer before it can be moved or copied. Whatever the form of drag or copy is made when the selected area is set at the second picture, it becomes a layer on this image. The selected area can be carefully moved to match the background image.
The best way to reconcile the two images is to enlarge a specific portion of the image and merge with the close monitoring. Once an area has joined correctly to match the rest, both pictures were taken in exactly the same way. Any deviation from the position or length of the lens between the two images show when the whole scene does not adhere to perfection.

Now the background layer and can be linked together. Photoshop Elements command.

“Flatten Image”you can click on the layer “menu” However, before doing so the two images may need a slight modification of the brightness and contrast for a more natural appearance. In Photoshop Elements the best way forward is through “levels”. Here are all shades can be adjusted separately for maximum effect. In our example, a slight adjustment to the new layer has been done to increase the contrast a bit in the shadows and lights. The last settings are shown in Figure 5. Once the brightness and contrast of two images are adjusted so satisfactory, the image can be flattened as expected.
Once all the minor imperfections flat border between the two images can be edited using tools such as Clone Stamp and Dodge and Burn Brush in Photoshop Elements. Because the set was very clear in this picture, there was no need for such alterations.

The final image is shown here (Figure 6) shows the results can be achieved. The whole process takes about 20 minutes. The most difficult task is to use the Lasso tool to select the area between the sky and foreground.

Although the picture is taken without a partner deliberately underexposed, this technique can be further obtained another image of the sky. In fact, it is common for some photographers to take pictures of interesting sky and then use them in this way. However, success is limited to the focal length and angle of view is dictated by the success of artificial image in this way. The best way is to run this year.

How to capture motion in your photos

Lights, camera and lots of action

name of “still” photographic images without the motion suggests. But still only one photo, a moment frozen in time. However, the files need not seem right photo, you can make sense of forward motion and movement. Here are some ways to proceed.
When we see an image of a moving object, which describes a successful business, we are moving even if the subject is completely still image. What I usually try to do is get the strong subject, but at the same time, this sign business, such as blur is removed. Therefore, the subject is static, and some parts of the image is displayed, the subject is really moving.

Other elements of the image can also be used to describe a movement or activity. Water is a good example of a known factor activity. When water spray is struck, it appears this action. However, there are some ways to emphasize the movement of water. One way is to completely freeze all of a drop of water seen in the picture with a shutter speed fast. The opposite way is to show the water to a total of a blur by using slow shutter speeds. However, both options, if implemented correctly, will describe the film.

Using Blur – In the picture usually try to get our images as sharp as possible. However, there are times when the use of fuzzy logic can improve a picture and describe this feeling of action.
A fast-moving objects in low light conditions with ease blur camera settings automatically. Because the lighting is dark, an automatic shutter speed the camera at a slowish and the subject will be blurred. This can be further improved if the photographer knows how to set the proper exposure.

Blur can easily be created by holding the camera, preferably on a tripod and use a slow shutter speed. What happens here has no moving parts in the image will be blurred and the fixed elements are sharp. In Figure 2 fuel tanks are stationary object while through traffic blurred.
Another technique is to move the camera and follow the subject in the same direction it is moving in the picture, this is called “Pan”. In this case, an image of success shows the strong connection, or even relatively sharply, while the background is blurred. This veil is known as “motion blur”

Transforming this fall

It seems most of us make most of our photos during the summer. The weather is nice, and we generally have more time because of holidays and vacations. This applies also for lovers of landscape. Although most picturesque places may better fall or spring, summer can be the only way for most to enjoy taking pictures of the landscape.

Every year there are many opportunities to take pictures of landscapes well, but autumn is the best time argueably. The color of the leaves is more varied and dynamic. The image in Figure 1 was taken in early August. The colors of the leaves are dull and there is very little variation in the color green. This is typical for most places this time of summer. But here is a way to turn this snap was annoying for a fall color image without leaving your seat. In Photoshop Elements this can be easily reached. Go to Enhance Adjust Replace Color color. The dialog in the standard model has a Lith negative image of the photo. Use the color picker, choose the color that you want to change. The type of image will change Lith shows how much of this shadow is in the image and made changes. Fuzziness can increase or decrease in the overall color shades.

When shadows are selected color can change drastically. Figure 2 shows the color window, called “Reset”(circled in yellow. Double-clicking opens a second dialog box labeled ,Select a target color. Here, the color can be changed by one or more the characteristics of this window. Our color Figure 3 were selected by moving the cursor down the orangy / red and then fine-tuning of this larger color window. This dramatic, but a simple adjustment takes only 10 minutes about. Naturally Try our strength is needed to get right.

Eye Focus

How exactly you focus on the image can make or break a photo, it is sometimes for more Than once it has started to avoid this second picture more precise. autofocus camera now is pretty fast and accurate, but the photographer must know how to use the camera system properly. Most auto-focus camera to use a key objective of the viewfinder as required. All other images is ignored. modern advanced camera is often an area of focus. Although these additional areas of focus, unless you change the focus area of the center of the viewfinder cameras default-area. A point is always to read the center of the viewfinder

There are different methods of development by type of subject being photographed. With portraits and photographs of animals, whether man or animal, the most important part of the image capture is strongly eyes.
If the subject’s eyes are not strong, it seriously damages the image. With most of the portrait image viewer will be led directly to the subject eyes, is a natural phenomenon. Therefore, the sharper and clearer picture of the issues, the better the impact of the image.
activate the system development. Usually this is done by pressing the trigger. If necessary to compose the picture with the eyes in another part of the structure, the focus can be locked by holding the shutter button halfway position, before returning to dial while pressing the shutter button. For multi-focus cameras area, you can select the area closest approach to the area of special attention. For example photos of models, usually you turn the camera vertically, placing the subject’s eyes about one-third of the lower part of one. Select the area closest to the focal point of the eyes, and focus, use focus lock as described above and then recompose and fire. multi-zone development is very useful if the subject is not in neutral. Just because you can get the first mixture, then select the area of development you need for your center subjects without having to move the camera again.

Secure your photos online

The Internet is now the most popular form of image display for professional photographers and amateurs. However, it is also the easiest way theivery photographic or misuse of copyright. Some simple steps can reduce the risk of the images used by others without permission.
1. Keep the small images. The larger the image, the more versatile use. For most Internet applications, there is no need for a larger image, then the size of the average computer screen, but should be large enough to understand. A good size for most needs is to show a maximum of 600 pixels on its longest side of the image. Smaller if it is shown in a smaller size. This will prevent your images from being distorted, for example to remove a watermark or copyright marks.

2. Remove the “Save Image As”Right click on the image of the Web allows a person to save the image on your computer. This can be disabled in your web page, an image is displayed, and in most cases to provide a copyright notice. However, it is easy to get around an experienced Web users, so it is only a preventive measure.

3. Double layering in dealing with their site, a transparent window images can be placed. Then, if someone tries to save the image by clicking the right mouse button, just save the transparent box.

4. Use of information properties of the image metadata record. Photo file metadata information can be added as your name and information about the image will also Have a copyright claim. This makes the image to identify their own, if you can find another site. But be sure not to include personal information that you do not want others to see.

5. Put your name clearly describes (Copyright Mark) Enter your name alone, or the image of more than one angle. Alternatively, it can be introduced across the image semi-transparent, so that does not take too many pictures. Not the most beautiful result, but it prevents those who might want to use to describe their goals.

None of these options as described 100% secure. I remember once the image is projected on a public site is subject to be copied and used for other purposes. However, at least one of these options will prevent unscrupulous web users.

Object Framing

Use a natural frame frame to compose the article. Algarve, Portugal, Algarve, Portugal If the argument is the “framed” by the photographer frame the picture itself. Let the four sides of the image area and try to fill this space in the best possible way on this issue. At least that is what many of us are trying to achieve. Another type of project is used in place or proposed to isolate the subject better and to create a natural frame of a self-image. The term means that is used in the second frame, which would be a compliment, and naturally interact with the scene. For example, if the fire room furniture from another room, you can use the door to frame a scene in a natural way to look at the scene.

In this example, we included the scene in the Algarve, Portugal. Some of the beaches along the coast are large rocks that were eroded by time, when lone pillars and cavities among the rocks. Here is a picture frame was used in the column of rock cave. This organization has improved its image by giving it a depth and hide unwanted elements of both rock pillars. Even very shady rocks in the foreground and background luminous pillar increased the contrast. This example shows that when you create a frame, need not be square, it is only to help isolate the subject better.
